Claire and I were chatting tonight as I put her in bed, talking about our day and making plans for tomorrow. She got some new Dora ponytail holders and wanted to know if she could wear them tomorrow. I said yes, maybe two, because her hair is not quite long enough to be pulled into a single ponytail, and pigtails work much better -- besides being ubercute.
"But I want to wear mine like yours," she protested, referencing the fact that I always wear a ponytail.
"Well, I'm a grown-up. I don't look as cute in pigtails. But you're a girl."
"Yeah, you're a boy, so you are different. But I'm a girl, so I wear pigtails."
"No, I'm a girl too, but I'm a grown-up girl. But we're both girls. We have girl parts."
"Right, right. We have girl parts. But boys, they have that pull-thing. Girls sit down to go pee-pee and poo-poo. Boys use their pull-thing to go pee-pee. But they sit down to go poopie, because they don't need their pull-things to poopie, they just need their bummies."
I think she's got that male/female sex thing ALL FIGURED OUT. I CAN'T WAIT to tell her how babies are made.

Perfectly timed for the theme 'sex' this week at Mama Says Om.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!
I LOVE this girl!
After hearing me cooing at a new baby, DirtMonkey turned and said, "You know, YOU could make a baby! You just need to fertilize the eggs in your penis and that makes a baby!"
GAH

Ah! So it's actually called a "pull thing". That's why J.J. tries to pull his off every chance he gets...

Delaney's going through a body parts phase right now too. We talked the other day about the correct names for what mommy and Delaney have and also about what daddy has. But Delaney can't say the word for daddy's part so instead she says, "Daddy has a peanut!" Her father is not amused.

Just about everytime I change Boo-boo's diaper, he grabs the pull thing and says, "Waggy, waggy, waggy!"

I am still laughing at Colleen's daughter..."peanut."
THAT IS HILARIOUS! ;)

Isn't it Mister Rogers who said "boys are fancy on the outside and girls are fancy on the inside"? I love that....
My boys found their new sister's lack of penis quite hilarious, Zach's then 4-year old response was "look Mom, she has a butt there!"
Great...

LOL - from the mouth of babes!
We've taught our daughter that her "peepee" is called a vagina/yoni and her dad's is a penis...however what comes out is "penuts"...it's soooo cute to hear!

Love that! And "pull thing" is the PERFECT name for such a thing. In fact, when Mark gets home from his week away, I'm so going to suggest he let me pull... never mind.
